What is pH and what does it measure?
Basically, the “p” stands for potential and “H” stands for hydrogen. pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion activity in a water solution. Whether a solution is perceived as acidic or alkaline depends on the activity of the H+ ion.
The pH values of different aqueous (water) solutions can be arranged in a pH scale. It is a 14-point scale used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. A value of 7 is neutral. A pH less than 7 is acidic and a pH higher than 7 is alkali.
The pH scale is logarithmic. This means each whole pH value below 7 is ten times more acidic than the next higher value. The same applies for pH values above 7, each of which is ten times more alkali than the next lower whole value.
Measuring the pH is Easier than Ever
Measuring the pH value is very important in biochemistry, chemistry, technology and even in normal life for body health. In industry, it effects many chemical processes and reactions however pH values of body saliva, urine and blood are through affecting human health.
The measurement can be made with electronic pH meters or with rapid tests such as pH strips, pH indicator papers and pH indicator solutions (pH indicator mixtures).
What are the Universal pH X® strips?
pH X® strips are including four different indicator colors fixed on a plastic strip to provide accurate pH measurement without use of any electronic pH meter. The sticks are color fixed and non-bleeding. Packed in a safe box that ensures the box has not been opened and its top cover allows easy removal of pH indicator strips, but prevents them from falling out. Each easy-to-use box containing 100 pH indicator strips.
To use pH X® indicator strips are by far the simplest way to measure pH.
What are the features and benefits of Universal pH X® strips?
Performing pH measurement with pH X®?
The easy dip- and-read application provides reliable results within few seconds. Dip the strip (all 4 color pads) into the liquid to be tested for 1 second and match the color of the pads to the pH diagram on the box label to obtain the pH value.
